UPK Teacher
Job Title: UPK Teacher
Salary: Commensurate with experience
Hours: 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday, with occasional evening hours required
Job Location: 327 Franklin Street, Watertown, NY 13601
Job Summary: The Certified UPK Teacher is responsible for teaching and maintaining a safe, healthy, and developmentally appropriate classroom of 18 children, ages 3-4 years old, with the help of the two Teacher Assistants. The Certified UPK Teacher prepares and implements lesson plans for age appropriate classroom activities and maintains compliance with the NYS Daycare Regulations. Familiarity with the Creative Curriculum is a plus. This person also provides leadership, supervision, and guidance to classroom staff. Methodical planning and recordkeeping are essential for this position.
Education Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or a Bachelor’s Degree and coursework equivalent to a major related to early childhood education. NYS Certification for B-2 or Special Education recommended or willing to create a 5 year plan.
Experience: Teaching experience in an early childhood setting, including supervision, is required.

Other: Employment is conditional pending satisfactory medical exam and TB test, receipt and clearance from the NYS Office of Children and Family Services, NYS Central Register for Child Abuse and Neglect, and the NYS Criminal Justice Center. - Work independently and as a team member to provide quality programming for New Day Children’s Center.
