Meet some of our Wonderful Staff!
Hello, my name is Megan Dyer and I'm the executive director at New Day. I've been here for over 20 years. My husband Pete and I have four children. I graduated from Mater Dei College in Ogdensberg with my degree in Early Childhood Education. I started out my career at New Day as an assistant teacher. After teaching for six years I was very fortunate to get an assistant director's position and worked for another six years under the guidance of Joan Pflugheber, who was the founder of New Day Children's Center. She turned out to be my most valuable mentor and a great friend. This job suits me because I love people and I am passionate about the way we can care for children. The people I work with are like family and the children we take care of make me smile everyday.
My name is Karen Bergevin. I'm married and have worked at New Day for 24 years. I have a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education from Fredonia State College. I also attend Onandaga Community College for Theatre. I love horses and cats, and enjoy swimming at the YMCA.
My name is April Gillette. I've been married for sixteen years, and have a 15 year old son. We live in Copenhagen, NY. I have my CDA credential and have worked at New Day for just about 5 years now. I enjoy spending time with my family and reading in my spare time.
My name is Rosie Kelley-Waters. I am a single mother of an 18 year old daughter. I came to New Day in 1998 for 6 weeks, but I stayed and have been here 10 years! I was raised here in Watertown and attended both Watertown High School and Jefferson Community College. I have a Certificate in Office Studies and a CDA for Early Childhood Studies. My family has a long record of military service and, besides New York, I have lived in Virginia, Georgia, and Germany.
My name is Lora Soluri. I am one of 10 children in my family, and a single mom of one. I graduated from Watertown High School. I've worked at New Day for 17 years as a cook. I like country music and enjoy scrapbooking and shopping.
Hi, my name is Anne Stone. I have been a member of the staff at New Day for 20 years. I started in 1986 as a substitute. In 1987 I began working as a Head Teacher in a toddler room. For many years I worked with toddlers, babies, four year olds and school age during the summers. Changing age groups when needed. In 1997 I took the position of Program Coordinator. I have an AAS Degree in Early Childhood from SUNY Canton and a Bachelors Degree in Sociology from SUNY Oneonta and some graduate level courses through SUNY Oswego. I enjoy canoeing, photography, traveling, and mental health days shopping :)
Hi! I am Chris Gardner. I have been at New Day for 17 years. My husband Steve and I have three children: Shawn, Kayleigh and Jessica. We live in Champion, New York. That's where I have spent most of my life. I am from a family of 13 children. Seven older than I and five younger. My husband and I like working on our old house, camping, spending time with family, and taking Sunday drives.
My name is Tammy Monroe. I've worked for 10 years at New Day and am currently the head teacher in one of our toddler rooms. I graduated from Carthage Central. In my free time I enjoy camping, 4-wheeling, snowmobiling, and spending time with my husband and 3 children.
My name is Sarah Gist. I've been working at New Day since May of 2004. I have worked in both the toddler and three-year-old classrooms. I also have two children that attend New Day and love it. I enjoy working with children and watching them grow :)
My name is Pat Miles and I've been a substitute at New Day since February 2004. I have been married for 42 years to a wonderful man and we have 6 grandchildren. I started out working for Central Square School, and then moved to Tennessee where I worked as a Teacher's Aide. I've been working with children for 32 years and have enjoyed every minute of it.
My name is Leisa Delosh and I've been with New Day since December of 2006. I've lived in the Watertown area my whole life and graduated from Copenhagen Central School. I have an associates degree in Early Childhood Development from JCC. I'm also currently employed at DPAO as an aide and involved with teaching Sunday School for three to six year-olds. In my free time I enjoy baking, doing crafts, shopping and spending time with my family.
My name is Monica Sboro. I've been employed at New Day since July of 2005 and I'm the head teacher in one of the toddler rooms. I graduated from Cazenovia College with a bachelors of science degree in early childhood education and program administration. I was born and raised here in Watertown and successfully completed my elementary and high school education at the catholic schools :) When I am not teaching at the daycare or waitressing, I enjoy long distance running and exercising!
Hi, my name is Rose Soluri and I've been with New Day for seven years now. I am currently the head teacher in one of our two infant rooms. I graduated from Watertown High School and have an associates degree in Human Services from JCC. Even though I've lived in Watertown my whole life, I am very interested in travelling, and enjoy taking pictures, scrapbooking, reading and shopping.
My name is Crystal Faulk and I am a teacher's aide in one of the infant - toddler rooms. I graduated from Indian River and live in Pamelia. I am married and have two children, both of which attend Evans Mills Primary School. Outside of work I like to go four-wheeling, camping, playing on the computer, spending time with my kids and husband, and enjoying the outdoors (when it's nice).
My name is Jessica Eiss and I'm the assistant teacher in Ms. Monica's toddler room. I graduated from General Brown and received my degree in Early Childhood Development at JCC. I teach kindergarten at Sunday School and I like to scrapbook in my spare time.
My name is Nancy Fonda and I am the assistant teacher in Ms. Rose's infant room. I am the mother of three girls and grandmother to one grandson. I am currently engaged and reside in Carthage. I received my CDA in New Mexico. I was fortunate to have spent over 20 years traveling with my children. I have lived in Germany, Texas, New Mexico and spent time in Hawaii when my grandson was born. My family has a long record of military service. Outside of work I enjoy horseback riding, camping, and spend a lot of time hiking with my fiancee and four-wheeling.
My name is Sarah Roes . I have been working at New Day since September 2007 as the assistant teacher in Ms. Tammy's toddler room. I graduated from Carthage Central High School in 2000, and went to receive my A.A. in Humnaities and Social Sciences with a concentration in Elementary Education from Jefferson Community College. I also have a Diploma with Highest Honors with Early Childhood from the Stratford Career Institute in Washington, D.C. I have been married for a little over 2 years now, and my husband and I are expecting our first child in May. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family, shopping, and scrapbooking.
My name is Mary Roshia soon to be Mary Oddi again. I am the Assistant Teacher in Ms. Leisa's Room. I am a soon to be divorced mother of a four year old son, TJ. I am 25 years old, born and raised in Watertown. I graduated from Watertown High in 2001. I am 1 semester away from my 2 year degree in Elementary Education.
Hello, my name is Jennifer Stassi and I'm the new Administrative Assistant at New Day. I started working here in November of 2007. My husband and I live here in Watertown and hope to be moving on post soon. Tony is in the Army and he just recently returned from Afghanistan serving in Operation Enduring Freedom VI and VII. I graduated from Harrisville Central school in June of 2003 then I received my Associate's Degree in Administrative Assisting at Bryant and Stratton College the winter of 2004. My hobbies are scrapbooking, photography, and playing with our Cairn Terrier, Tyson.
Hello, my name is Hayley Beth Grant. I graduated from Indian River Central with a Regents Diploma and was inducted into the National Honor Society in 11th grade. I love to sing. I was in Chorus from Kindergarden all the way up to my senior year. I went to JCC and graduated with an AAS degree in Early Childhood. Of Course, I love children that is why I decided upon Early Childhood for my career path. I am the assistant teacher in Miss Rosie Waters room. I work and play with 3 year old children. I also love animals. I have a dog, 2 cats, and 2 fish. My second career choice would have to be something along the lines of animals because I love to take care of them. My favorite food is anything that sounds good to me at the time.
Hello, my name is Barb Brown. I'm married with 3 children; 2 boys, and 1 girl. My husband is in the National Guard and works at Fort Drum as a Civilian Technician. He was active duty for many years. I went to nursing school and I am an LPN. In my free time I like to travel, shop, cook, and play bingo. I enjoy working here at New Day as a Cook II in the Kitchen.
